A Great History
For centuries legends abounded about a 'Fountain of Youth' in Costa Rica. Then, a few years ago, Mr. Avraham Kotlitzky has found this long-lost treasure spring, that Avraham says "It makes you healthier if you drink or bathe in it".
This is a journey in time through the history of a unique place in Costa Rica, The historical spa Pura Pora in Aguacaliente, Cartago. It's a place of an important historical events such as fossil finds and archaeological remains. It was the main settlement of Huetares, an indigenous group that inhabit the vast majority of Costa Rica. An important center of trade during colonial times and the Bella Vista Hotel was built there in 1886 as the first hotel and spa for medical tourism in Costa Rica. All this situated on a site of great natural beauty and tranquility.
The warm water of the spring, which the Spanish called "The Fountain of Eternal Youth," emerge from volcanic depths below. In the 19th century the spring was Costa Rica's major tourist attraction. Experts from famous European spas such as Baden-Baden and Karlsbad praised the water's potent healing properties. An international company called Bella Vista built a hotel and warm-water pools in the site and the company shares were traded on European stock exchanges. Aristocrats and various other wealthy Europeans crossed the ocean to heal what ailed them and restore their skin to it's youthful luster.
